About Greenhope
Located in East Harlem, Greenhope Services for Women was established in 1975 when a convent was transformed into a comprehensive residential and outpatient treatment program for formerly incarcerated women. Over the years, Greenhope has expanded and now provides residential recovery services for women referred by various sources, including but not limited to court systems (including criminal court, family court, and mental health court); parole and probation; the Administration for Children’s Services, as well as individuals who are independently seeking support. Greenhope’s commitment to providing quality services to predominantly poor African American and Latina women has made it a leader in this field. We support women as they explore the intersection of addiction, mental health, court involvement, and trauma, and help them in the process to achieve abstinence from substance use as well as their other, individualized goals.
Using a gender-responsive, trauma-informed, client-centered lens, Greenhope provides comprehensive care for women to identify, develop, and achieve their goals related to their holistic recovery in areas such as mental health, criminal justice involvement, career and education, and family systems. Greenhope also offers a mother-child program for individuals who are pregnant, parenting a young child (up until 5 years of age), or working towards family reunification.
Greenhope became an affiliate of Acacia Network in 2016 and currently operates a residential program for adult women seeking treatment for a substance use disorder, fully licensed by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS). We accept most insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicaid-pending status.
